O suspeito foi identificado como Francisco Wellington Alves de Lima e preso por força de mandado de prisão preventiva cumprido pela Polícia Civil do Ceará (PC-CE). As agressões contra a mulher foram registradas por câmeras do Centro de Comando e Controle de Fortaleza (CCCFor).
As imagens, cedidas pela Secretaria Municipal da Segurança Cidadã (Sesec), mostram o homem, na noite de 6 de março, agarrando a vítima, que tenta sair e acaba sendo derrubada e agredida.
O PM chega a chutar a mulher já caída e a deitar-se sobre ela, no intuito de sufocá-la. Na ocorrência, a Guarda Municipal de Fortaleza (GMF) foi acionada e deteve o homem. Antes, ele teria tentado fugir ao perceber a chegada dos agentes.

Francisco Wellington foi conduzido à Delegacia de Defesa da Mulher de Fortaleza (DDM), no entanto, não foi lavrada a prisão em flagrante do PM. A vítima não foi conduzida à unidade policial e não foi identificada pelos agentes de segurança no momento da ocorrência.
A mulher só foi identificada posteriormente por uma equipe da Delegacia de Defesa da Mulher. Ainda não há informações sobre a relação dela com o PM.
