O senador Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) defendeu que a Comissão de Assuntos Econômicos (CAE) do Senado tenha "acesso irrestrito" às investigações relacionadas ao Banco Master, conduzidas pela Polícia Federal sob supervisão do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF).
Segundo informou a Agência Senado, o parlamentar argumenta que a comissão possui "competência constitucional" para fiscalizar o sistema financeiro nacional e acompanhar apurações que envolvam possíveis falhas de regulação e supervisão.
"A fiscalização do sistema financeiro nacional é competência da CAE do Senado. Essa fiscalização do sistema financeiro é algo permanente do Senado. Eu assinei as CPIs e defendo quantas CPIs quiserem fazer. O trabalho da CAE não vai conflitar com o trabalho eventual de qualquer CPI. Nosso trabalho é permanente. A CPI é sempre temporária", disse.
O senador se reuniu com autoridades para tratar do tema e reforçou a necessidade do Legislativo acompanhar o andamento das apurações. A intenção é que a comissão tenha acesso a documentos e dados hoje protegidos por sigilo judicial.
Renan também defende que a CAE possa realizar diligências e ouvir pessoas relacionadas ao caso, dentro das atribuições regimentais do colegiado.
"O papel do Senado é fortalecer a investigação da Polícia Federal para que, em nenhuma hipótese, haja blindagem nessa investigação. Entregamos pedido de informações, inclusive sigilosas. São vários inquéritos, alguns em diferentes estados, e o diretor [da PF] também vai disponibilizar assessoramento técnico, de modo a agilizar as informações que nós pretendemos obter no âmbito da Polícia Federal", pontuou.
O movimento amplia a pressão política em torno das investigações e insere o Senado de forma mais direta no debate sobre a supervisão do sistema financeiro. A eventual liberação de dados à comissão dependerá de autorização judicial, já que os inquéritos seguem sob controle do STF.
