Três dias após classificar a candidatura à Presidência do governador de São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), como "página virada", o secretário de Governo e Relações Institucionais do estado de São Paulo e presidente nacional do PSD, Gilberto Kassab, classificou o ex-ministro de Jair Bolsonaro (PL) como "o melhor candidato" ao Planalto. A declaração ocorreu nesta quarta-feira (11), em entrevista ao Jornal da CBN.
"Sempre compreendi e continuo entendendo que o Tarcísio é o melhor candidato. Um ministro muito bem avaliado quando se avalia sua gestão como ministro e um governador que tem uma aprovação extraordinária e merecida", defendeu o secretário.
Líderes ligados ao Centrão, como Kassab e o presidente do PP, senador Ciro Nogueira (PI), defendiam que Tarcísio fosse o escolhido pelo ex-presidente para disputar as eleições de 2026 em seu nome. Bolsonaro, no entanto, escolheu o senador Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ). A escolha reforçou a posição de Tarcísio, que sempre alegou que disputaria a reeleição.
