O presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, afirmou neste sábado, 21, que o Irã tem um prazo de 48 horas para abrir o Estreito de Ormuz ao tráfego marítimo ou enfrentará destruição de sua infraestrutura elétrica.
"Se o Irã não ABRIR TOTALMENTE, SEM AMEAÇAS, o Estreito de Ormuz, dentro de 48 horas a partir deste momento exato, os Estados Unidos atacarão e aniquilarão suas numerosas USINAS DE ENERGIA", ameaçou o mandatário em sua rede Truth Social, indicando que começará pela 'maior delas'.
Desde que Estados Unidos e Israel lançaram a guerra contra o Irã em 28 de fevereiro, Teerã fechou de fato o estreito em represália.
Cerca de um quinto do petróleo e do gás natural liquefeito do mundo atravessa Ormuz em tempos de paz. Os países que dependem dessa rota marítima se apressaram em buscar vias alternativas e recorrer às suas reservas.
Mas o impacto no abastecimento proveniente do Golfo já provocou um forte aumento nos preços dos combustíveis em todo o mundo, o que ameaça elevar a inflação geral quanto mais a guerra se prolongar.
