A instalação de enriquecimento nuclear de Natanz, uma das principais do Irã, foi alvo de um ataque aéreo conduzido pelos Estados Unidos e Israel neste sábado (21/03), noticiou inicialmente a agência de notícias Tasnim. De acordo com o veículo, a ofensiva não desencadeou nenhum vazamento de materiais radioativos, e não há risco para moradores próximos ao local. Trata-se da segunda vez que ela é atingida desde o início das agressões contra o país persa, em 28 de fevereiro.
A Organização de Energia Atômica do Irã confirmou o que descreveu como "ataques criminosos" liderados por Washington e Tel Aviv à central nuclear Shahid Ahmadi Roshan em Natanz. Acrescentou ainda que os bombardeios violam as leis e compromissos internacionais, incluindo o Tratado de Não Proliferação de Armas Nucleares (TNP), entre outras regulamentações de segurança nuclear.
Países como a Rússia também denunciaram os ataques relatados à instalação de Natanz, dizendo que eles poderiam configurar uma "catástrofe" para a região do Oriente Médio.
"A comunidade internacional deve fornecer imediatamente uma avaliação objetiva e rígida dessas ações irresponsáveis, que representam um risco real de catástrofe em todo o Oriente Médio", disse a porta-voz do Ministério das Relações Exteriores da Rússia, Maria Zakharova, em comunicado.
