Monitor de Secas: fevereiro registra melhora em quatro regiões do Brasil
Com isso, a área do país sob algum grau de seca recuou de 63% para 54% do território nacional, redução de cerca de 900 mil km².
Ao todo, 17 unidades da Federação apresentaram redução na severidade do fenômeno entre janeiro e fevereiro: Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, São Paulo, Sergipe e Tocantins. Distrito Federal e Espírito Santo se juntaram ao Acre na lista de estados completamente livres de seca.
Na direção oposta, Amapá e Rondônia registraram piora, enquanto Amazonas, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul e Santa Catarina permaneceram estáveis.
Nordeste
Apesar da melhora pontual, o Nordeste segue como a região mais afetada: 95% do território apresentou algum grau de seca em fevereiro, sendo a única região com registro de seca extrema. Sete estados, Alagoas, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí e Rio Grande do Norte, tiveram 100% de sua área sob o fenômeno.
As chuvas acima da média no mês ajudaram a reduzir as áreas de seca extrema na Bahia e no Piauí, além de amenizar a seca grave na Bahia e registrar seca moderada no Maranhão.
Sudeste e Centro-Oeste
No Sudeste, as precipitações elevadas em fevereiro, especialmente em Minas Gerais e Rio de Janeiro, promoveram melhora nos quatro estados da região. A seca grave recuou em Minas Gerais e São Paulo, a seca moderada diminuiu no Rio de Janeiro, e o Espírito Santo ficou completamente livre do fenômeno. Ainda assim, 79% do território sudestino permanece com algum grau de seca.
No Centro-Oeste, onde 66% da área ainda registra seca, houve recuo no norte do Mato Grosso e no sul de Goiás. O Distrito Federal saiu completamente do mapa da seca, resultado de chuvas consistentemente acima da média nos últimos meses.
Norte e Sul
A região Norte teve o menor percentual de área seca do país, com 29% do território afetado. Ainda assim, houve avanço da seca no Amazonas e agravamento no norte de Roraima e em parte do Amapá. Como ponto positivo, Tocantins deixou de registrar seca grave, e Rondônia e Pará ampliaram suas áreas livres do fenômeno.
No Sul, 63% do território está com seca. O Rio Grande do Sul e o centro-oeste do Paraná viram a seca fraca avançar por conta de chuvas abaixo do normal.
