O corpo do policial baiano Israel Serafim Santos, de 41 anos, que integrava a Força Nacional, será trasladado para a Bahia na madrugada desta terça-feira, 24,. Ele morreu após desaparecer durante uma operação na Terra Indígena Yanomami, em Roraima.
O transporte será feito por via aérea, com decolagem prevista de Boa Vista às 2h35. Inicialmente, o corpo será levado para Salvador e, em seguida, encaminhado para Morro do Chapéu, cidade onde o policial nasceu, na região da Chapada Diamantina. As informações foram divulgadas pela Casa de Governo.
Servidor da Polícia Militar da Bahia desde 2011, Serafim fazia parte da Companhia Independente de Policiamento Especializado (Cipe), voltada a ações em áreas rurais e de maior complexidade. Nos últimos meses, estava atuando em Roraima, reforçando operações de combate ao garimpo ilegal dentro do território Yanomami.

O desaparecimento ocorreu na quinta-feira, 19, no rio Uraricaá, localizado na área da Estação Ecológica de Maracacá. Na ocasião, a equipe havia acabado de destruir um acampamento utilizado por garimpeiros ilegais.
O corpo foi encontrado na manhã de sábado, 21, a cerca de 300 metros do local onde ele havia sido visto pela última vez. O policial estava em uma região de corredeira e ainda portava todo o equipamento de trabalho, incluindo arma e farda.
Conhecido entre colegas como soldado Serafim, ele deixa dois filhos e uma companheira.
Em nota, o Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública manifestou pesar pela morte do agente e prestou solidariedade à família. O texto também reforça o compromisso do Governo Federal em oferecer apoio aos familiares.
