A reunião foi convocada pela comissão de Segurança Pública e Defesa Social da Alepe, através do deputado estadual e ex-prefeito do Recife, João Paulo (PT), que foi provocado pelo sindicato da categoria dos motoristas, que têm convivido com uma série de casos de violência neste ano de 2026. Já estão confirmadas as participações do presidente do Sindicato dos Motoristas de Aplicativo em Pernambuco (Sindmape), Anderson Câmara; o delegado Paulo Gondim, chefe da Polícia Civil; e outros nomes das áreas de segurança, mobilidade e da categoria dos motoristas.
O deputado João Paulo (PT) disse que a sociedade não pode aceitar os casos de violência como parte do cotidiano. "São pais e mães de família que saem de casa todos os dias para trabalhar e muitas vezes não sabem se vão voltar em segurança. Não é possível naturalizar essa realidade. Precisamos ouvir os trabalhadores e construir respostas concretas que garantam proteção e dignidade para essa categoria", diz o parlamentar petista. Os motoristas têm sido, seguidamente, vítimas de assaltos que por vezes resultam em assassinatos.
