Em dezembro do ano passado, a corporação realizou uma apreensão histórica de cocaína ao encontrar 1,3 tonelada da droga no terminal de cargas. O produto estava embalado em blocos prensados e escondidos em estruturas de mesas, que seriam enviadas para Madri, com passagem prévia por Portugal. Após a apreensão, foram montadas operações e outros volumes foram descobertos.
Segundo o superintendente Regional da Polícia Federal em Minas Gerais, Richard Murad Macedo, houve um reforço na estrutura do órgão no aeroporto em Confins, o que vem possibilitando a realização de um trabalho de captura maior de ilícitos no estado. Em 2025, o posto da PF no local foi transformado em uma Delegacia Especial (Deain), com foco em inteligência e fiscalização de fronteira. A maior preocupação com o local tem ligação com ampliação da relevância do terminal no cenário nacional com alto fluxo de passageiros e ampliação de voos, inclusive internacionais. Dados da BH Airport, administradora do terminal, mostram que ele recebeu mais de 13,3 milhões de passageiros em 2025, o maior volume da história dele.
