Um piloto que estava no caça F-15E Strike Eagle abatido continua desaparecido e há esforços de Washington para encontrá-lo. Teerã, por sua vez, está oferecendo recompensa para capturá-lo como prisioneiro de guerra, o que daria ao regime iraniano uma vantagem contra os Estados Unidos.
A segunda aeronave atingida por fogo iraniano era do modelo A-10 Thunderbold, um avião de ataque. Nesse caso, segundo relatos de oficiais dos EUA à imprensa americana, o piloto conseguiu levar a aeronave danificada para o espaço aéreo do Kuwait antes de ejetar, sendo posteriormente resgatado.
