Em setembro passado, a Anthropic havia sido avaliada em US$ 183 bilhões ao captar US$ 13 bilhões. Cinco meses depois, já vale mais que o dobro.
Com o anúncio, a Anthropic se antecipa à sua principal concorrente, a OpenAI, que também está na rua para captar até US$ 100 bilhões num valuation ainda não conhecido, segundo a Bloomberg. No ano passado, a startup de Sam Altman levantou US$ 40 bi a um valuation de US$ 300 bilhões.
As líderes em AI continuam aproveitando o apetite dos investidores para financiar seu ganho de escala, necessário para atender a demanda pantagruélica. No caso da Anthropic, o novo funding vem acompanhado de um avanço nas métricas, com a receita anualizada saltando de US$ 1 bilhão em janeiro de 2025 para US$ 14 bilhões agora.
Na outra ponta, a empresa também já se comprometeu a investir bilhões na construção de data centers e chips.
A Anthropic — que se especializou em soluções para setores como engenharia de software, finanças e saúde — foi fundada em 2021 por Amodei (um ex-vp de pesquisa da OpenAI), sua irmã Daniela e outros ex-OpenAI.
