Em Terra Brasilis, o fato político mais relevante (e mais preocupante) deste início de 2026 é a decomposição da imagem do Supremo Tribunal Federal. Não se trata de um simples "desgaste", mais um, entre tantos na história do tribunal, nem de uma crise passageira, como outras que já vimos. Não se trata tampouco, não mais, de encontrar uma "saída honrosa" para o rolo monumental que envolve o ministro José Antonio Dias Toffoli e o escândalo do Banco Master.
Sorteado para cuidar do caso, ele tomou uma série de decisões injustificáveis, ou só explicáveis à luz dos interesses dos investigados (os já conhecidos e os que continuam surgindo dos bueiros da República). Para piorar, fora das quatro linhas da Corte, o comportamento do ministro não o ajudou. Primeiro, ele foi flagrado no jatinho que o levou a Lima para ver a final da Libertadores. A aeronave, do empresário Luiz Osvaldo Pastore (guardemos este nome), também levava a bordo o advogado Augusto de Arruda Botelho, àquela altura já contratado por um diretor graúdo do banco.
