Congresso peruano destitui presidente interino José Jerí, quatro meses após assumir o governo - Brasil de Fato
Ele assumiu o governo em outubro de 2025, após a destituição pelo próprio parlamento da ex-presidenta Dina Boluarte, que, por sua vez, foi empossada em 2022 após o impeachment e prisão do ex-mandatário Pedro Castillo.
"A mesa diretora declara a vacância do presidente da República", anunciou o chefe interino do Congresso, Fernando Rospigliosi, segundo informou a Agência France-Presse (AFP).
Na votação, 76 parlamentares foram a favor de destituir o presidente, bem acima dos 58 necessários.
Rospigliosi informou ainda que o parlamento elegerá na quarta-feira (18) um novo chefe do Legislativo, enquanto isso o cargo fica vago. As eleições gerais no país estão marcadas para 12 de abril e o presidente eleito deve assumir em 28 de julho.
A destituição de Jerí é mais um capítulo da crise institucional que assola o Peru desde as eleições de 2016. Na última década, apenas um dos oito presidentes peruanos completou seu mandato.
Acusações
Jerí foi destituído enquanto o Ministério Público o investiga por dois casos de suposto tráfico de influência, após vir à tona que ele teve um encontro secreto com um empresário chinês que faz negócios com o governo. Jerí nega as acusações.
"Não cometi nenhum crime. Tenho plena autoridade moral para servir como Presidente da República", declarou o político a um canal de televisão no último domingo (15).
No início de fevereiro, outra investigação foi aberta contra Jerí também por tráfico de influência, desta vez referente a um suposto envolvimento na contratação de mulheres para integrar cargos no governo.
