Chefe de poderoso cartel mexicano é morto em operação militar
Embaixada confirma cooperação com autoridades americanas na operação para captura de "El Mencho"
O narcotraficante mexicano Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes (foto), conhecido como "El Mencho", foi morto neste domingo, 22, após uma operação militar no estado de Jalisco, no oeste do México.
Ex-policial, ele liderava o Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), um dos grupos criminosos mais poderosos do país.
Segundo o Ministério da Defesa, Oseguera foi ferido em uma ação para capturá-lo na cidade de Tapalpa e morreu enquanto era transportado de avião para a Cidade do México.
A região é considerada base estratégica do cartel, que se destacou pelo envio de grandes quantidades de drogas aos Estados Unidos.
A Embaixada do México em Washington afirmou que houve cooperação com autoridades americanas na operação.
"Além dos esforços centrais de inteligência militar, informações complementares foram fornecidas pelas autoridades dos EUA no âmbito da coordenação e cooperação bilateral com os Estados Unidos", disse a representação diplomática.
Durante a ação, quatro pessoas morreram em confronto. Outras três ficaram feridas e também morreram posteriormente, entre elas Oseguera.
Duas pessoas foram presas, e as forças de segurança apreenderam veículos blindados e armamento pesado. Três militares ficaram feridos.
Reação violenta
Após a confirmação da morte, foram registrados bloqueios de estradas e incêndios de veículos em Jalisco e em outros estados.
Segundo o governador Pablo Lemus Navarro, uma operação em Tepalpa desencadeou confrontos e ações coordenadas para dificultar o avanço das autoridades.
Imagens nas redes sociais mostraram fumaça sobre áreas de Puerto Vallarta e correria no aeroporto local. A Air Canada anunciou a suspensão de voos para a cidade "devido a uma situação de segurança em andamento".
O CJNG foi criado em 2009 e se expandiu rapidamente, tornando-se rival do Cartel de Sinaloa, grupo associado a Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, preso nos Estados Unidos.
