Segundo o Corpo de Bombeiros, a ocorrência foi registrada por volta da 1h30. Chovia no momento da travessia, e o nível do rio subiu rapidamente. O nível chegou a cerca de 50 centímetros acima da passagem molhada, estrutura geralmente construída no leito de rios ou riachos, feita de concreto ou pedras, para permitir a circulação de veículos, pedestres e animais.

Duas pessoas estavam no automóvel quando ele foi arrastado. Uma delas conseguiu sair, mas o outro ocupante, um morador de Porteirinha, segue desaparecido. Ainda de acordo com os bombeiros, o carro foi retirado do leito do rio com o auxílio de um trator de um morador da região. Até as 16h deste domingo, as equipes permaneciam nas buscas.
