A Secretaria Municipal de Desenvolvimento Urbano (Sedur) escorou a parte da estrutura da Casa do Benin que foi atingida por um caminhão desgovernado na manhã deste domingo (22), na região do Centro Histórico. Além disso, o órgão também foi responsável por remover as partes instáveis da estrutura. Em nota, a administração da Casa do Benin informou que o espaço ficará temporariamente fechado para manutenção após o acidente, que provocou danos em uma das pilastras da fachada. Um novo comunicado deverá informar o cronograma de restauro e a data de reabertura.
Em nota, a Defesa Civil de Salvador (Codesal) informou que foi acionada por volta das 5h30 para realizar vistoria no endereço. O impacto atingiu a estrutura da fachada da edificação. A Secretaria de Manutenção (Seman) instalou tapume na área atingida. Já a Transalvador foi mobilizada para a retirada do caminhão, operação que posteriormente passou a ser conduzida pela empresa responsável pelo veículo envolvido no acidente.

O caminhão colidiu contra barracas e o prédio histórico no Largo do Pelourinho, por volta das 3h14 da madrugada deste domingo (22). Segundo testemunhas, o veículo, que estava em horário de trabalho na região, teria descido a ladeira aparentemente sem freio. Um pedestre ficou ferido.
O caminhão desgovernado atingiu barracas de pizza e churrasco instaladas no local e bateu na parede do Museu Casa do Benin. Uma moto também foi atingida. No momento do acidente, moradores e trabalhadores correram para retirar materiais, celulares, caixas de som e outros equipamentos, tentando evitar prejuízos maiores.
O prédio passou por vistoria técnica realizada por engenheiro da Defesa Civil de Salvador (Codesal). De acordo com a avaliação preliminar, não há risco estrutural.
