Citi confirma acordo para vender 24% do Banamex por US$ 2,5 bilhões; BTG é um dos compradores – Money Times
O Citigroup anunciou nesta segunda-feira (23) que firmou acordos com investidores institucionais e family offices para a venda conjunta de 24% de participação no capital do grupo financiero Banamex, dando mais um passo no processo de desinvestimento da operação no México.
A operação havia sido revelada mais cedo pela Bloomberg.
Pelos termos das transações, os compradores se comprometeram a adquirir, em conjunto, cerca de 499 milhões de ações ordinárias do Banamex, ao preço fixo aproximado de 43 bilhões de pesos mexicanos (cerca de US$ 2,5 bilhões).
Entre os investidores que adquirirão as fatias estão a General Atlantic, a Afore Sura, o BTG Pactual, a Chubb, fundos geridos pela Blackstone, a Liberty Strategic Capital e a Qatar Investment Authority.
As transações sucedem o fechamento, em dezembro de 2025, da venda de 25% do Banamex ao empresário mexicano Fernando Chico Pardo, atual presidente do conselho do grupo financeiro e seu maior acionista individual privado. Segundo o Citi, ele participou ativamente do processo de seleção dos novos investidores minoritários e continuará envolvido na integração do novo grupo de acionistas.
Com a conclusão de todas as compras já comprometidas, o Citi terá alienado 49% do Banamex. Diante da aceleração do processo, o banco afirmou que não antecipa vendas adicionais em 2026.
