O presidente dos EUA, Donald Trump, voltou a criticar a Suprema Corte dos EUA nesta segunda-feira (23), três dias após a decisão que suspendeu parte de seu tarifaço.
Em uma publicação nas redes sociais, o líder republicano tachou a conclusão do tribunal superior de "ridícula" e argumentou que os magistrados acabaram lhe concedendo mais poder e força em sua política tarifária, implementada há quase um ano.
"A Suprema Corte dos EUA, por um completo desrespeito, me deu acidentalmente mais poder e força do que eu tinha antes de sua ridícula decisão", escreveu Trump na Truth Social. Ele ameaçou ainda usar as cobranças de uma forma "muito mais poderosa e desagradável.
No sábado, o presidente anunciou que elevará de 10% para 15% a nova tarifa sobre as importações de todos os países. Na sexta-feira (20), dia em que a Suprema Corte pronunciou sua decisão, o líder americano disse que substituiria as tarifas invalidadas por uma alíquota de 10% sobre todos os bens que entram no país.

O representante comercial dos EUA, Jamieson Greer, antecipou em entrevista à ABC News que os acordos firmados individualmente com os países seguem em vigor.
"O instrumento legal para implementá-la pode mudar, mas a política em si não mudou", argumentou.
Com isso, as novas tarifas de 15% não se aplicam às nações com as quais os EUA já haviam fechado um pacto comercial, incluindo o Reino Unido, a União Europeia (UE), Suíça, Japão, Coreia do Sul e Vietnã.
A medida passará a valer nesta terça-feira (24) e terá uma validade de 150 dias, com base na nova legislação utilizada, a Seção 122 da Lei de Comércio de 1974, que permite a imposição de taxas temporárias para enfrentar déficits comerciais graves. Depois desse prazo, o Congresso precisará dar o aval para que as tarifas continuem valendo.
A decisão da Suprema Corte favoreceu, ao menos temporariamente, o Brasil, que chegou a enfrentar tarifas de 50% no ano passado, como retaliação ao processo judicial contra o ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro e às ordens judiciais do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) contra empresas americanas.
