O afogamento ocorreu no Lago Paranoá, na altura da SHIS QI 25, no Lago Sul, nas proximidades da Ponte JK. Ao chegar no local, após acionamento da emergência, as equipes encontraram o corpo de um homem adulto, com idade em torno de 40 anos, boiando na água a aproximadamente 15 a 20 metros da margem. Os bombeiros retiraram a vítima das águas, que já não apresentava sinais vitais e encontrava-se com rigidez muscular pós-morte.
Ainda não se sabe a dinâmica do ocorrido. Após o resgate, a Polícia Civil do Distrito Federal (PCDF) tomou responsabilidade pelos procedimentos legais e pela remoção do corpo.
