De acordo com a revista "Veja", Vorcaro precisou ser atendido por equipe médica no presídio federal de Brasília após se machucar ao dar socos na parede da cela. O episódio teria ocorrido logo depois que ele tomou conhecimento da decisão da Segunda Turma do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), que formou maioria para manter sua prisão preventiva.
A nova cela de Vorcaro tem entre 7m² e 8m² e é monitorada por câmera 24 horas por dia, com exceção do banheiro. O ambiente ainda possui um vidro que separa a cela da área destinada aos profissionais de saúde, que monitoram o banqueiro o todo tempo.
Ainda não há previsão de quando ele voltará para a cela comum. Antes de ser transferido para a ala médica, o ex-banqueiro permaneceu em uma cela individual de cerca de 9m², equipada com cama, vaso sanitário, pia, chuveiro, mesa e assento, sem monitoramento por câmeras.
Mourão morreu depois de atentar contra a própria vida na Superintendência da Polícia Federal em Belo Horizonte, segundo relatos da corporação. Ele chegou a ser internado no João XXIII, mas teve a morte encefálica decretada no dia 6 de março.
Conforme investigações da Polícia Federal, Daniel Vorcaro seria líder de uma espécie de milícia informal, batizada como "A Turma", para vigiar, intimidar e obter dados de potenciais adversários de seu grupo. Sicário seria responsável por executar as ordens para intimidar pessoas vistas como "prejudiciais aos interesses da organização".
Na sexta-feira (13/3), a Segunda Turma do STF formou maioria para manter o banqueiro preso. Os ministros Nunes Marques e Luiz Fux acompanharam o voto do relator, ministro André Mendonça, que rejeitou os argumentos da defesa que pediam a revogação da medida.
Em seu voto, Mendonça afirmou que a prisão preventiva é necessária para garantir a ordem pública, a ordem econômica e o andamento da investigação. Segundo ele, mensagens encontradas em aparelhos do investigado indicam a existência de um grupo organizado armado para monitorar e intimidar adversários do banqueiro.
