O presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, afirmou que ainda não está pronto para fechar um acordo para encerrar a guerra com o Irã e pediu a "diversos países afetados pela intimidação" de Teerã que ajudem a garantir a segurança do Estreito de Ormuz.
Em entrevista por telefone à NBC, o republicano declarou que os termos atualmente discutidos com os iranianos ainda "não são bons o suficiente", recusando-se a revelar quais condições não teriam sido atendidas.
"O único poder que o Irã ainda possui, e que pode ser neutralizado relativamente rápido, é a capacidade de lançar minas ou mísseis de curto alcance. Neutralizamos a maioria de seus mísseis e drones. Desmantelamos em grande parte suas instalações de fabricação de mísseis e drones. Em dois dias, essa capacidade será completamente destruída", disse o presidente.
Trump também afirmou que vários países se comprometeram a ajudar a garantir a segurança do Estreito de Ormuz. No entanto, observou que ainda não estava claro se o Irã havia de fato lançado minas navais na região.
"Muitos países, particularmente aqueles afetados negativamente pela tentativa do Irã de fechar o Estreito de Ormuz, enviarão navios de guerra, em coordenação com os EUA, para garantir que o estreito permaneça aberto e seguro. Estaremos patrulhando com grande intensidade e acreditamos que seremos acompanhados por outros países que enfrentam dificuldades para acessar o petróleo", afirmou.
O ministro das Relações Exteriores iraniano, Abbas Araghchi, alertou outros países "para que se abstenham de qualquer ação que possa levar a uma escalada e ao prolongamento do conflito" durante uma conversa com seu homólogo francês, Jean-Noel Barrot.
Paralelamente, Trump reiterou que "não está preocupado" com um possível aumento nos preços da gasolina nos EUA em decorrência da crise do petróleo causada pela guerra com o Irã.
"Acho que eles ficarão mais baixos do que antes; eu previa mínimas históricas. Há muito petróleo e gás disponíveis, há de sobra, mas, sabe, o fluxo ficou um pouco obstruído. Isso será resolvido muito em breve", afirmou. (com Ansa)
