Com 'O Agente Secreto' no Oscar, Brasil vive 'grande dia', mas não leva nenhum prêmio
Além do filme de Kleber Mendonça Filho, o brasileiro Adolpho Veloso concorria a outro prêmio
O Agente Secreto, filme escrito e dirigido por Kleber Mendonça Filho, fez história ao receber quatro indicações ao Oscar, nas categorias de Melhor Filme, Melhor Filme Internacional, Melhor Ator e Melhor Direção de Elenco. Apesar de não ter conquistado nenhuma estatueta, o longa-metragem proporcionou um "grande dia" ao Brasil e ajudou a mostrar a força da cultura brasileira para todo o mundo.
Após a vitória de Ainda Estou Aqui na categoria de Melhor Filme Internacional no Oscar de 2025, as expectativas eram grandes para repetir o feito este ano, o que não ocorreu, mas isso não apaga o mérito do diretor e de toda equipe do filme.
Antes do início da cerimônia, Kleber chegou a declarar estar se sentindo realizado e feliz com a conquista de chegar ao Oscar. "É um grande dia. Estamos com quase 40 companheiros e companheiras da equipe, atores, atrizes, equipe técnica. É um grande dia de celebração. E eu fico recebendo notícias do Brasil. É um grande dia no Brasil também", disse o cineasta em entrevista à agência de notícias AFP.
A primeira categoria em que o Brasil estava representado foi a de Melhor Direção de Elenco. Este foi o primeiro ano da categoria e havia grandes expectativas para saber qual dos cinco filmes indicados seria premiado.
Para apresentar à categoria, a direção do Oscar chamou um ator de cada filme para exaltar o trabalho dos responsáveis pela escolha de elenco. Subiram ao palco Chase Infiniti, de Uma Batalha Após a Outra, Gwyneth Paltroy, de Marty Supreme, Paul Mescal, de Hamnet, Wagner Moura, de O Agente Secreto e Delroy Lindo, de Pecadores. E a primeira estatueta da história de Melhor Produção de Elenco foi para Cassandra Kulukundis pelo trabalho em Uma Batalha Após a Outra, o que entristeceu os fãs brasileiros, que não viram Gabriel Domingues trazer o troféu para o Brasil.
Segundo especialistas, as maiores chances de O Agente Secreto levar uma estatueta era na categoria de Melhor Filme Internacional, mas o longa-metragem acabou perdendo o prêmio para o norueguês Valor Sentimental, que recebeu nove indicações no total.
O Brasil também estava em uma grande torcida para Wagner Moura levar o prêmio de Melhor Ator, ainda mais pelo artista ter sido premiado no Globo de Ouro. Entretanto, o brasileiro estava em uma briga acirrada com Ethan Hawke, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet e Michael B. Jordan, que ficou com o prêmio pela atuação em Pecadores.
Por fim, O Agente Secreto também disputava o principal prêmio da noite, de Melhor Filme. Essa estatueta ficou com Uma Batalha Após a Outra, de Paul Thomas Anderson, que foi o campeão da noite com seis prêmios no total.
Além das incidações de O Agente Secreto, o brasileiro Adolpho Veloso concorria ao prêmio de Melhor Fotografia pelo trabalho em Sonhos de Trem, mas quem levou a estatueta foi Autumn Durald Arkapaw, de Pecadores.
