Sobre a área aterrada, foram construídos pontos conhecidos de Florianópolis, como o Terminal Rodoviário Rita Maria, o Terminal de Integração do Centro (Ticen), o Centro de Eventos e a Passarela Nego Quirido. Anos depois, outra parte foi aterrada para a construção da Via Expressa Sul.
