As declarações foram feitas em entrevista à CBS News. Ao ser questionado se o Irã está aberto à retomada da circulação de navios de petróleo e gás pelo Estreito, pontuou: "Bem, estamos abertos a países que queiram conversar conosco sobre a passagem segura de seus navios".
Na sequência, questionado se estão negociando com a França e a Itália, respondeu: "Não posso mencionar nenhum país em particular, mas fomos procurados por diversos países que desejam uma passagem segura para seus navios. "Os EUA derrotaram e dizimaram completamente o Irã, militar, econômica e em todos os outros aspectos, mas os países do mundo que recebem petróleo pelo Estreito de Ormuz precisam cuidar dessa passagem, e nós ajudaremos — e muito! Os EUA também coordenarão com esses países para que tudo ocorra de forma rápida, tranquila e eficiente. Isso sempre deveria ter sido um esforço conjunto, e agora será – unirá o mundo em prol da harmonia, segurança e paz eterna!", escreveu o presidente americano na Truth Social.
