Wholesale retailer Assaí released Q1 2026 results on Monday. The company posted net profit of R$ 86 million, down 46.7% compared to the same period in 2025. Net revenue was R$ 18.64 billion, essentially flat.

Assaí is a cash-and-carry retail chain that primarily serves lower-income families from social classes C, D and E. In the first quarter of 2026, the company faced adverse conditions due to simultaneous deflation in essential products like rice, beans and sugar, which fell an average of 12%, combined with record levels of household debt.
