Brazil observed on Sunday (April 26) the National Day for Hypertension Prevention and Control. The Ministry of Health reported that hypertension is a silent disease that affects adolescents and children, in addition to adults and elderly people.

Arterial hypertension is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood pressure levels in the arteries and is considered one of the main risk factors for stroke, heart attack, arterial aneurysm, and kidney and heart failure. According to the Ministry of Health, arterial hypertension is inherited from parents in 90% of cases, but various factors such as smoking, obesity, stress, and high salt consumption also influence blood pressure levels.
