Caixa Econômica Federal began on April 27 the payment of a new batch of amounts from the former PIS/Pasep fund for workers and civil servants who worked between 1971 and 1988. The batch covers beneficiaries who requested reimbursement by March 31, with average amounts between R$ 2,8 thousand and R$ 2,9 thousand.
The old PIS/Pasep fund was created in the 1970s to supplement the income of workers and civil servants, being replaced in 1988 by the current annual salary bonus model. Unclaimed amounts were transferred in 2020 to the FGTS and then to the National Treasury, with the government now allowing withdrawals upon request until September 2028.
