The National Council of Justice (CNJ) approved on Tuesday (June 9) the opening of a Disciplinary Administrative Proceeding (PAD) against judge Magid Nauef Láuar of the Minas Gerais Court of Justice to investigate allegations of sexual crimes. The magistrate has been suspended from his duties since February 27, when Disciplinary Complaint 0001163-34.2026.2.00.0000 was filed.

According to a report by the national justice corrector, Minister Mauro Campbell Marques, seven victims were identified who testified about alleged crimes of sexual harassment and rape committed by the judge in Teófilo Otoni and Governador Valadares. In March, the CNJ had reported hearing five complainants; the number expanded to seven in June investigations. ?

The case began with a disciplinary complaint about Láuar's conduct in voting to absolve a defendant accused of rape of a minor, but was later expanded to investigate possible sexual crimes by the magistrate against other victims. Campbell described in his vote "a systematic pattern of behavior" in which the judge selected victims based on the resistance they could offer to his advances, exploiting situations of vulnerability, young age, or subordination. ?

Láuar's defense, represented by lawyer Daniel Calazans Palomino Teixeira, alleged that the accusations refer to episodes from "decades ago" and asked the CNJ to recognize the statute of limitations for any crimes. The lawyer argued that the procedure is being opened "based only on reports, which may constitute false memories."
