Former Brazilian consul to Japan Aldemo Garcia and his wife were robbed by three men while waiting for a ride-hailing car in Pinheiros, west zone of São Paulo, on Sunday April 26. The criminals, two of them armed, took cell phones, a purse with money and a watch.

Aldemo Garcia had returned to Brazil in early April after five years serving as Brazil's consul in Japan. The Pinheiros neighborhood has been experiencing high crime rates, with 83 theft and robbery crimes in February alone this year.
