The Ministry of Health announced on Friday the release of R$ 1.2 billion to build over 500 health units throughout Brazil, through the new PAC program. Amazonas received R$ 63 million for 25 projects in 23 municipalities, while Rio Grande do Sul received R$ 64 million for 28 units.
The new PAC (Growth Acceleration Program) is a federal government initiative that involves investments in health, education, social assistance and infrastructure throughout the country. The program seeks to strengthen primary health care, especially in more distant regions, decentralizing services and reducing the need for patients to travel to other municipalities seeking care.
