Iranian Navy threatens response to US attacks on oil tankers

2 sources · 10 May 2026 · Share coverage ·

The Iranian Navy said on Saturday that any attack against Iranian ships will have a response against American centers in the region. The statement came after the US attacked two Iranian oil tankers on Friday, amid a ceasefire between the countries.

The conflict between the United States and Iran involves American attacks on Iranian oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz, even during a ceasefire between the countries. American President Donald Trump characterized the action as a "light tap" and said it did not violate the ceasefire, while the Iranian foreign minister accused Washington of choosing "irresponsible military adventure" during diplomatic negotiations.
