Mark Mobius, an investor known for emerging markets funds, died today at age 89 in Singapore. He worked at Franklin Templeton for more than 30 years and later founded his own investment firm in London.
Mark Mobius was a pioneer in emerging markets investing, launching one of the first funds dedicated exclusively to these countries in 1987 at Franklin Templeton. For over 30 years, he became an advocate for opportunities in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America, managing over $40 billion when he retired in 2018.
