A 27-year-old rideshare driver was arrested on April 14 for robbing a passenger in Vila Mariana, south São Paulo. The incident occurred on April 8, when the man took R$ 500 in cash from the woman in an alleged exchange for a Pix transfer and fled with the car, dragging the passenger for about 300 meters.
The case was registered as robbery with serious bodily injury and police were able to locate the vehicle through the Muralha Paulista system, a state government program that monitors suspicious vehicles through interconnected surveillance cameras.
