An electric scooter exploded inside an apartment in the Mangabeiras neighborhood of Maceió on Thursday, April 23. The device belonged to photographer Igor Couto, who was at home with his pregnant wife at the time of the explosion. No one was injured, but battery cells scattered throughout the area.

The electric scooter had been recently acquired and was being used daily by the photographer for work, but had been unused for several days before the explosion. The device was not connected to an outlet at the time of the incident, having been charged days earlier with the charge subsequently removed.
