The PL will receive the largest share of the 2026 electoral fund — R$ 881.7 million of the total R$ 4.96 billion that the TSE distributed this Wednesday (3) among 30 parties for the October elections. The PT came in second place with R$ 615.4 million, followed by União Brasil, which will receive R$ 526.2 million. The three parties concentrate about 40% of all resources. ?

"PL: 881,657,477.34 (0,17769907548); PT: 615,367,980.20 (0,12402812200); UNIÃO: 526,242,858.11 (0,10606485145)"

The distribution follows criteria from the Electoral Law (Law No. 9.504/1997): 2% divided equally among all parties with statute registered in the TSE; 35% proportional to votes in the last election for the Chamber of Deputies; 48% according to the number of elected federal deputies; and 15% by representation in the Federal Senate. The formula favors parties with greater presence in the National Congress. ?

"The distribution of FEFC resources follows criteria established in the Electoral Law (Law No. 9.504/1997). Of the total available: • 2% are divided equally among all parties with statute registered in the TSE; • 35% are distributed proportionally to the votes obtained by the parties in the last general election for the Chamber of Deputies; • 48% are divided according to the number of representatives elected to the Chamber of Deputies; and • 15% are divided according to the representation of the parties in the Senate Federal."

Ten parties — including AGIR, PCB, PCO, PSTU and UP — will receive only the equal 2% share of the total, about R$ 3.3 million each, for not having obtained votes or representation in the Chamber in the last elections. The Special Campaign Financing Fund was created in 2017 after the STF banned, in 2015, corporate financing of campaigns.

The resources must be used exclusively for campaign expenses, including advertising, personnel hiring and events. Parties need to define internal distribution criteria respecting gender and race quotas, with plans approved by the TSE. In case of leftovers, the money returns to the National Treasury.

Why it's still unknown: Sources present final values but do not detail how votes, deputies and elected senators mathematically translated into the final classification.

  • What changes in the distribution formula have occurred since 2022?

Why it's still unknown: No source compares current criteria with those from the previous election or explains whether there were changes in legislation.
