Police identify 15-year-old teenager suspected of firing fireworks at athletes in Pampulha

Civil Police identified a 15-year-old teenager as a suspect in two fireworks attacks against runners and cyclists at Pampulha Lake shore in Belo Horizonte. The attacks occurred in April and May of this year, with the suspect using a car to approach athletes and fire the fireworks.

The shores of Pampulha Lake are one of the most popular locations for running in the state capital, where groups of athletes regularly gather for training. The two attacks occurred at similar times during morning hours, when about 25 to 30 people were participating in sports activities at the location.
