São Paulo Civil Police identified more than 70 social media profiles that shared videos of a gang rape against two children aged 7 and 10. The crime occurred on April 21 in eastern São Paulo. The only adult involved was arrested and four minors were detained.
Brazil's Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) provides for 1 to 4 years of imprisonment and fines for those who disseminate child abuse content. The Digital Observation and Analysis Unit (Noad) of São Paulo's Public Security Department conducts 24-hour monitoring to identify profiles sharing such material.
