Donald Trump said on social media Wednesday that negotiations between Israel and Lebanon will take place on Thursday. The American president said he is trying to create breathing room between the two countries, which according to him have not spoken for 34 years.
The conflict between Israel and the Hezbollah group in Lebanon began more than six weeks ago, with Israel conducting attacks against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in the southern part of the neighboring country. Following talks between Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors in Washington on Tuesday, both countries agreed to hold direct negotiations.
