Valdemar says he is confident in Eduardo Bolsonaro's support for André do Prado for Senate

2 sources · 23 Apr 2026 · Share coverage ·

PL party president Valdemar Costa Neto returned from the United States after meeting with Eduardo Bolsonaro in Texas. Valdemar said he is confident that Eduardo will support André do Prado, president of Alesp, as Senate candidate for São Paulo.

Eduardo Bolsonaro is considered the 'owner' of one of the Senate seats for São Paulo, but has been in self-exile in the United States since early 2025. The definition of the PL's Senate candidate generates disagreements within São Paulo's right-wing, which fears that multiple ideological candidacies could split votes and benefit the left.
