New car sales in Brazil rise 16.3% and reach highest level since 2013

New vehicle sales in Brazil totaled 1,734,599 units in the first four months of 2026, the best result for the period since 2013. Growth was 16.3% compared to the same period in 2025. The federal government's Sustainable Car Program boosted sales, especially of electric and hybrid vehicles.

The Sustainable Car Program is a federal government initiative implemented in July 2025 that offers tax incentives for vehicles with cleaner technologies. The data is released by the National Federation of Automotive Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave), which tracks sales of automobiles, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, motorcycles and new road implements.
