The approved text establishes a 14-month transition for implementation of changes. Sixty days after enactment, the workweek will drop from 44 to 42 hours per week and workers will have the right to two days off per week, one of them preferably on Sundays. After 12 months of this first stage, the workload will be definitively reduced to 40 hours per week.

Exempted from the new rules are workers with higher education degrees who receive salary equal to or greater than two and a half times the INSS ceiling, equivalent today to about R$ 21,188.88. For this group, the rules of workday control and time registration do not apply, except if provided for in collective agreement or employer decision. ?

In the Senate, the PEC will need support from at least 49 of the 81 senators in two voting rounds to be enacted. President Lula celebrated the approval on social media, classifying it as a "historic and civilizational achievement" and promised to "work intensively" for definitive approval in the Upper House.
