2 sources · 29 Apr 2026 · Share coverage ·

Google signed a deal with the US Pentagon to expand the use of artificial intelligence in classified operations. More than 600 Google employees signed a letter criticizing the agreement and asking the company to reject it.

In 2018, Google withdrew from Project Maven, a Pentagon program to integrate AI into drone operations, following employee pressure. In recent years, the company has changed its strategy and begun rebuilding its military business, competing for defense contracts.
