President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva launched on Friday (12) the Move Motos program — a credit line with 12.5% annual interest for app motorcyclists to finance motorcycles, mopeds and electric bicycles produced in Brazil. The rate represents less than half of the 27% practiced in the market, according to minister Guilherme Boulos, with 100% financing of the vehicle value and up to three months grace period to start paying.

The target audience are the 351,000 motorcyclists who work through apps in the country — 33.5% of the 1.1 million motorcycle drivers registered by IBGE in 2024. To access credit, workers need six months registered on the official platform and at least 100 completed rides. Starting July 13, approved professionals can seek Banco do Brasil, Caixa or authorized institutions to contract financing.

During the ceremony at Palácio do Planalto, Lula stated that motorcyclists "are no longer the last workforce considered invisible in this country" and demanded that BB and Caixa organize "proactive and bureaucracy-free" service within 30 days.
