2 sources · 01 May 2026 · Share coverage ·

Senator Magno Malta (PL-ES) fainted in the Congress parking lot on Thursday (30th) and was hospitalized in Brasília. He was heading to the plenary to vote on the presidential veto of the Dosimetry Bill when he fell ill. The Senate ended up overturning the veto by 49 votes to 24.

The Dosimetry Bill is a project that reduces penalties applied by the STF to those involved in the January 8, 2023 acts and could benefit former president Jair Bolsonaro. The project was completely vetoed by Lula in January this year, but Congress overturned the veto, first in the Chamber and then in the Senate.
