The TSE suspended on Tuesday (14th) the trial regarding the impeachment of the governor and vice-governor of Roraima elected in 2022. Justice Estela Aranha requested a review after Justice Nunes Marques' vote, which defended the acquittal of current governor Edilson Damião.
The Regional Electoral Court of Roraima had revoked the ticket formed by Antonio Denarium and Edilson Damião for abuse of political and economic power, accusing them of using social programs to gain electoral advantage. The case brings into question the principle of ticket unity, which establishes that governor and vice-governor are jointly responsible for electoral irregularities.
